Philips TUV germicidal lamps emit short-wave ultraviolet radiation. UV-C radiation has a photolytic effect on DNA, targetting micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses, mould and yeasts. Osram HNS lamps emit light at 254nm and do not product ozone.

UV-C lamps are used in purifcation of water, air and surfaces, eliminating the need for chemical products.
